What is a Truth Processor?

Reference to a Truth Processor is made in many articles throughout the Living the Truth ministry. What is a truth processor?

A truth processor takes the raw truth of God’s word and processes it through four stages resulting in fruitful living and God glorified. See the Truth Processor visual on the right. See Colossians 1:9-11 for scriptural basis.

Most items within our view are the results of processing raw material into useful products: trees to paper, oil to gas, wind to energy, notes to music, and steel into buildings. The difference between the poverty of a third world country and the abundance of an industrial nation is the ability to process raw material into beneficial products.

God’s Word is raw truth that must be made flesh (incarnated) and displayed in our living.  The stages of this process which I call Truth Processing are identified in Colossians and used by the people in Nehemiah 8. The difference between a barren Christian and a fruitful Christian is his faithfulness in  processing truth into life.

The Truth Processor has four stages as does baseball when a hit is processed into a score. We have chosen to use the four bases of baseball to guide the truth through the stages on each page of our manydevotional booklets.  Have your copy of the devotional handy as I explain the Truth Process.

First Base. You reach First Base if you are able to Recall or state a specific truth. Many programs and publications stop here. The first base coach is waving you on. Don’t stop here. Your goal is home plate. Don’t linger at the know stage (first base). You may get proud and deceived into believing that first base is home plate (James 1: 22-25).

Second Base. You reach Second Base when you understand the truth sufficiently to Restate the truth in your own words without changing the meaning. Understanding provides confidence and meaning to specific truth which can then be passed on to the next stage of the process. Don’t stop at second base. All you have done is mastered the truth but the truth has not mastered you. Keep Going.

Third Base. At this base you Relate the truth to your own life. You will see how it fits so that you can live it in order to arrive at home plate.

Home Plate. You finally Realize the truth. It has become a reality in your life. It has gone beyond a truth known to a truth lived. You can now give a testimony of a truth obeyed. You have finally reached the fruitful stage. You have SCORED!  God is pleased (III John 4)

We have just described very briefly the Truth Process which should be used with every exposure to God’s word to avoid hardening of the heart (Heb 4:2)

This is only one of many many articles which we will enter in order to help process truth into living.

  1. The site looks great and the blogs are very well written. It will take some time to high volume and readership but it is very good stuff. I have never heard of “truth processing” presented and illustrated in this way but it makes biblical sense and doesn’t let you get by without realizing what base you are on. I’m looking forward to seeing the devotional and continued blogs. March on.

  2. Thank you for posting this!
It is so necessary that we get beyond reading, beyond memorization, to actually living in the Word so we can live it out.
This process is what it is to “work out your own salvation.”
It is the fulfillment of “let this mind be in you which also was in Jesus Christ.”
The person who practices this kind of meditation will “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Over time, this practice will make actual in real life the poetic prayer I learned as a child, “Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me.” It will make possible the fulfillment of the command of Jesus, “Let your light shine before men.”
The dream and vision of Paul for the Philippian believers will come to pass in us so that we “shine as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life.”

All this happens to renovate the human soul so “Christ is formed in you.” God is involved in this process. Personally involved. He writes on our hearts! (2 Corinthians 3:1-3) Let Him write!

  3. Ryan! Thanks for helpful comments. I welcome constructive criticism. Your interest may lead me to draw on your help in developing the main emphasis on Biblical Living. This has been my major theme for thirty years in churches and colleges.

  4. Dan. I really welc ome the return of dialogue with you. Lost track of you after New England..Your comments are right on. I want to converse with you in the days ahead.

  5. Thanks for the practical & visionary posting of this helpful information. It truly is an extension of your traveling ministry only it is via electronic travel rather than over the highways. 🙂 The truth processor is beneficial in understanding The cycle of truth that must culminate in action of the truth. Thanks for putting it so simply & succinctly.
